November 21, 2020 Meeting — via Zoom: Show-and-Tell and electronic resources, 11 a.m.
November is a giant show-and-tell meeting. Everyone should take photos of their recent weaving projects and email them to Mindy McCain so she can gather for screen showing. If you are using any online resources for weaving inspiration or patterns, please email those to Mindy and we will review those as well. See you then!

October 17, 2020 Meeting — via Zoom: Justin Squizzero and The Burroughs Garret, 11 a.m.
Justin Squizzero and his weaving business, The Burroughs Garret, specializes in both historic reproductions and contemporary works produced on historic equipment. Working in his 19th-century Vermont farmhouse using weaving equipment left there by its first occupants, Justin’s textiles blur the lines between past and present. Come prepared to talk about what craft tradition means in the 21st century and how we shape it for the future.

Dagmar Frerking will give an overview about barn looms in the midwest and an introduction to their history as well as to the experience of weaving on them. Those of you in the guild who have experience weaving on these looms are invited to share your experiences!

August 15, 2020 Meeting — Dye Day with Carrie May, 10 a.m.
August will be a meeting in person! Dye Day with Carrie May will be at the home of Donna Hudson. Read the newsletter for specific details to prepare for dyeing.
If you would like to join us without dyeing, please do so! This meeting will be outside with plenty of social distancing -- remember to wear a mask as well. For more information, contact Donna Hudson.
There is always left-over dye, so bring some white shirts or fabric to experiment with Tie Dye! We will have instructions available. You will need gloves and a microwavable plastic container to take your lovely creation home.

Gather your recent handwoven projects to show online. You can send photos of your items to Mindy McCain to include in the presentation along with using your computer video camera to show the shape and "hand" of you handwovens. Please send you photos prior to our Saturday meeting.

With the looming health crisis, we are unable to meet in person, so we are going to try meeting online using Zoom video conferencing software. More information will be contained in the newsletter.

February 15, 2020 meeting
Sue Payne and the Conner Prairie Youth Spinners and Weavers will talk about their program and share personal experiences. The youth will share the impact of learning to spin and weave on their lives. The youth demonstrate their skills at Conner Prairie and compete each year at the State Fair in a ‘sheep-to-shawl’ competition.
The February meeting will be at our usual location (St. Luke's Methodist Church). However we will be in a different room in the building. Look for signs directing your way after you enter Door #6. See you then!

Donna Hudson attended the 25th Annual Historic Textiles conference in Clayton, New York last May. This program highlights a few of the conference presentations: creating a doubleweave tartan blanket, the ‘50 Mile Coat’, “What item would you rescue in a fire“, and a few other highlights, as well as photos from The Thousand Islands Art Center amazing library and textile collection.
