Gray and Deep Yellow Dish Towels

I had made placemats and napkins in these colors from a kit I purchased.  All of these kitchen items are for our apartment at our daughter’s house in Hyattsville, MD. I have had fun planning, furnishing and coordinating colors.

I wanted to weave these dish towels, which are not in the kit in this design, because I wanted to challenge myself to work on selvages the way Linda Adamson always tells me to: place the weft throw at 45 degrees then pull the beater and don’t worry.  That seemed to work for the most part, especially on the second towel when I worked more consciously to do that and, also to pay attention to any errors that crept into my pattern.  Didn’t do as well on the first one!

Details
8/2 Unmercerized cotton, sett: 18 EPI, Plain weave, finishing: hemmed, weaving the first and last 1 ½ inches in gray thread.
