Previous Meetings 2025 (other years here)
October 18, 2025: Shadow Weave with Mindy McCain
Mindy McCain fell in love with shadow weave over 20 years ago. This color-and-weave structure is versatile in pattern and can be used for any type of project you like, from clothing and towels, to rugs and upholstery.
Shadow weave can be woven on a simple 2-shaft rigid heddle loom or as many shafts as you have. Mindy will delve into the structure to understand the basics and then expand your knowledge with profile drafting and a multitude of samples, many woven by fellow guild members.
At the end of the meeting, Mary McConnell will give a demo on how to warp your loom for the upcoming Deflected Double Weave workshop with Natalie Drummond.
This meeting takes place at our usual location in Hoosier Village.

September 20, 2025: African Textiles with Nancy Taylor
How do we even begin to talk about African textiles?
On this vast and incredibly varied continent, fiber work plays, and has played, so many important roles in aesthetics, economics, religion, social status, gender, communication, history, and just plain joy. But we'll give it a try!
This presentation by Nancy Taylor will focus on textiles south of the Sahara, including handmade cloth such as Kente and Kuba, distinctive contemporary factory produced cloth, and textiles in the fine arts. We'll have lots of images, but, most importantly, lots of beautiful pieces to pick up, feel and examine!

August 16, 2025: Dye Day at Tabby Tree
We had a yarn-painting dye party for our August 16 guild meeting at the new location of Tabby Tree Weaver at 7857 S. 750 West in Pendleton, Indiana.
Amanda Baxter of Shiny Dime Fibers in Spencer, Indiana, brought all the supplies for painting with MX dyes on cellulose fiber. She demonstrated her process for warp/skein painting and will focus on yarn dyeing.
So many members attended, some to dye and some to just watch.
It was great fun!

April 19, 2025: Round the Blocks - profile drafting with Jennifer Johnson
Jennifer Johnson lead a discussion (with handouts!) on profile drafts. What it is, why it's important, how to 'read' the draft and how to substitute the draft into something you can weave. Think shorthand, weaver style.

March 15, 2025: Imperfect Work Show and Tell with everyone!
Our speakers this month are YOU. "The Imperfect Work" is the discussion. Bring a piece that might not have ticked all the boxes and let's learn from one another.
This round-robin talk may help you see alternatives for that imperfect work. Scarf not draping well? Maybe it could become fronts for a vest. Too short placemat? Perhaps the fabric for a tote bag. Come with ideas for others and let's share in our mutual love of fibers.
